AJSO comes into existence because of the urgent need of defending freedom of expression and media freedom for Afghanistan. Over the past two decades, the democratic progress, freedom of speech, and media growth achieved have been reversed. With many journalists leaving and media outlets shutting down, AJSO is committed to restoring journalistic rights and freedom of expression in Afghanistan. The organization opposes the harsh conditions imposed on journalists, especially women, aiming to counteract these challenges and safeguard human rights.
