Statement !

Recent reports from Kabul have revealed alarming developments regarding the potential shutdown of media broadcasts by the Taliban at the office of Tamadon Private TV.

The Afghan Journalists’ Support Organization is gravely concerned about this threat and views it as yet another oppressive action by the authorities controlling media outlets in Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s establishment of monitoring commissions in all provinces to regulate daily media broadcasts is perceived as a blatant assault on press freedom. Such actions are unequivocally condemned by the Afghan Journalists’ Support Organization.

We call upon the Taliban to immediately cease all forms of pressure on the media and refrain from imposing unwarranted restrictions on journalistic activities.

Furthermore, we urge the international community to intervene and prevent the Taliban from encroaching upon the independence of Afghan media outlets and to extend support to Afghan journalists during this critical time.
